Deion Sanders won't be returning to the college game, as a source told College Football Insider Brett McMurphy that the NFL legend has opted not to join the coaching staff at his alma mater, Florida State.

Speculation that Sanders would be joining new coach Willie Taggart's staff as defensive backs coach began when he took in the Independence Bowl on the Seminoles sideline. A source told Josh Newberg of 247 Sports at the time that there was mutual interest in Sanders jumping on board.

Sanders was asked during the Independence Bowl broadcast by the television crew about a return to Florida State, and the 50-year-old certainly didn't deny the rumor.

"You never know," Sanders said. "I've been known to make big plays with these colors on. That's all I'm going to say."

For the time being at least, it looks like the man known as "Prime Time" will be sticking to his role with the NFL Network.
