Deion Sanders on Florida State coaching rumors: 'You never know'
Hall of Fame cornerback and Florida State legend Deion Sanders would neither confirm nor deny a report Wednesday that he's in discussions to return to his alma mater as an assistant coach.
When asked at the Independence Bowl - where Sanders was on the Florida State sideline decked out in Seminoles attire - about a report from Josh Newberg of 247Sports claiming he's a candidate to become the school's defensive backs coach, Sanders was non-committal.
"You never know," he said as the Seminoles took on Southern Miss. "I've been known to make big plays with these colors on. That's all I'm gonna say."
Sanders currently serves as an analyst on NFL Network. He's been heavily involved in coaching at the high school level over the past several years.
Hours before the Independence Bowl, recently hired coach Willie Taggart posted a photo of himself with Sanders. The eight-time Pro Bowler has been a strong supporter of Taggart since his hiring.
