Twitter roasts Oregon's performance in Cristobal's coaching debut
Oregon players made it known that they wanted Mario Cristobal as head coach after Willie Taggart bolted for Florida State following the season.
Their lobbying was successful, as the school did promote the offensive coordinator, making Saturday's Las Vegas Bowl against Boise State his first game in charge.
Things couldn't have gone much worse. The Ducks struggled to move the ball, falling 38-28 in a scoreline that actually flattered Oregon considering the Ducks were outgained 481-285 in total yards and registered only 14 first downs.
It was a shoddy performance, and the Twitter crowd wasted no time voicing its displeasure with Oregon under the new leadership.
Is Oregon sure about Mario Cristobal? I haven't seen many football teams look this ill-prepared.

"Good thing Cristobal punted at midfield,” said zero Oregon fans.

The Ducks' offense is wasting time on the clock. Simply punt on first down and hope that the D can make a play.

How does Oregon have a total of just 94 yards with 6 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter? With Justin Herbert? (Boise gave up 450 yards per game to P5 opponents.)

Oregon players lobbied for Mario Cristobal as their next coach, then promptly went out and laid an egg in Las Vegas Bowl. Ducks were physically dominated by Boise State. Great win for the Broncos.

To top things off, a report surfaced before the contest indicating Oregon interviewed Boise State coach Bryan Harsin for the Ducks' opening before giving the job to Cristobal. That might have made the dominant win even sweeter for the Broncos frontman.
Oregonian columnist John Canzano says Bryan Harsin interviewed for the Oregon head coaching job last week, but lost it to Mario Cristobal.

Oregon fans may be able to take solace in this fact: Eight years ago, another promoted offensive coordinator made his debut as Ducks head coach against Boise State, and lost 19-8. His name was Chip Kelly.
