Ohio State loses commitment from 5-star DE Brenton Cox
Joe Maiorana-USA TODAY Sports
Ohio State lost its top-ranked recruit from the 2018 class on Wednesday as five-star defensive end Brenton Cox announced he's decommiting from the Big Ten school.
The 6-foot-5, 250-pounder is ranked as the fifth-best player at his position and the 13th overall prospect in the country by ESPN. The Georgia native holds offers from a number of elite programs including Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Clemson, LSU, Oregon, and USC.
While the decommitment certainly hurts the Buckeyes, they do already have the nation's top defensive tackle committed, along with seven other players inside the top 50 on the ESPN 300.
