Alabama, Clemson, Miami, and Oklahoma occupy the top four spots in a revamped version of the College Football Playoff rankings, which were released Tuesday on the heels of a crazy weekend of games.

Rank Team Record Previous Rank
1 Alabama 10-0 2
2 Clemson 9-1 4
3 Miami 9-0 7
4 Oklahoma 9-1 5

Georgia - which owned the No. 1 ranking before getting crushed on the road at Auburn - dropped to No. 7, putting the Bulldogs in a precarious spot as they attempt to break into the four-team playoff.

Clemson's jump to No. 2 comes as something of a surprise, but selection committee chairman Kirby Hocutt pointed to the Tigers' win over Auburn early in the season as a victory that stands out now more than ever.

Miami, meanwhile, ascended to No. 3, but didn't jump Clemson because it hasn't yet flexed its muscles on the road, Hocutt said.

Wisconsin leads the rest of the contenders at No. 5, followed by Auburn, Georgia, and Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish slipped five spots after owning the No. 3 position a week ago.
