During Florida's game against LSU, the late Tom Petty's 'I Won't Back Down' was played over the PA system in the third quarter, sparking a massive sing-along from those in attendance.
Petty, who was born in Gainesville, Fla., where the Gators play, died this past Monday at the age of 66 from a cardiac arrest suffered at his home in Malibu, Calif.
The hit song was released by Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers in 1989, with Petty co-writing and co-producing.
The Gators used a 13-point third quarter to close LSU's lead to 17-16 entering the fourth.
