Oregon's Taggart: No idea who'll start at QB vs. Washington State
Willie Taggart is hoping good things really do come to those who wait, because the Oregon head coach could exhaust the clock before deciding on a starting quarterback for Saturday's game versus Washington State.
"We still have (Wednesday's) practice, Thursday's practice, Friday's practice, and we have a late game, so we have all day Saturday," Taggart told Ryan Thorburn of The Register-Guard.
"It depends on how those guys progress throughout the week."
The Ducks are minus their regular starter, Justin Herbert, who's expected to miss four-to-six weeks with a broken collarbone. Herbert's backup, senior Taylor Alie, is also nursing an injury and, like Herbert, was forced to exit last week's win over Cal. The third-string option is true freshman Braxton Burmeister, who relieved Alie and finished the Cal game.
Whichver pivot draws the start, he'll be in tough against an undefeated Cougars squad that's ranked 11th nationally and is coming off a massive win over USC.
On the positive front, star running back Royce Freeman is practicing this week after he, too, left last week's contest against the Golden Bears with an injury.
