Alabama's thrashing of Ole Miss came at a cost.
After fumbling a punt return that a teammate recovered during Saturday's game, Crimson Tide defensive back Trevon Diggs retreated to the locker room with a right foot injury, only to emerge in the third quarter on crutches with a protective boot, Al.com's Matt Zenitz reports.
Diggs wasn't the only loss 'Bama suffered, as defensive lineman Da'Shawn Hand went down with a leg injury - also in the second half. Alabama head coach Nick Saban believed Hand suffered an MCL strain. He'll be re-evaluated Sunday.
Both players anchored starting spots on the team's defensive units, and will leave big shoes to be filled should they be sidelined long term.
