Report: Auburn working toward firing athletic director Jay Jacobs
Jay Jacobs could be dismissed from his role as Auburn's athletic director sooner than anticipated.
Both Auburn's president, Steven Leath, and its board of trustees have begun discussions that would lead to Jacobs' dismissal, prior to the end of the football season, Kevin Scarbinsky of AL.com reports.
Auburn's men's basketball program is under an FBI investigation and the team began issuing refunds on season tickets earlier this week. Associate head coach Chuck Person was suspended without pay Tuesday after it was discovered he received over $91,000 in bribes.
The FBI disclosed that "Person abused his coaching position (at Auburn) to solicit or obtain bribe payments" in a federal complaint that was unsealed Tuesday amid the bureau's widespread investigation into corruption in college sports.
