Texas' Shane Buechele returns from injury to start vs. Iowa State
John Gutierrez / USA TODAY Sports
Texas head coach Tom Herman refused to name a starting quarterback prior to Thursday's game against Iowa State, but in the end it was announced on the live broadcast that Herman opted to go with the returning Shane Buechele to begin the contest.
Buechele had been held out of game action since Texas' week 1 loss to Maryland after suffering a bruised throwing shoulder.
Freshman Sam Ehlinger stepped in to replace Buechele in that time, leading the Longhorns to a blowout victory over San Jose State and a closely fought double-overtime loss to USC, but will begin the contest on the sidelines.
