Texas' Connor Williams out indefinitely with severe knee injury
Texas received some bad news regarding the status of Connor Williams, as team doctors confirmed following an MRI the left tackle suffered a sprained MCL and PCL, as well as a torn meniscus in his left knee, according to Anwar Richardson of Orangebloods.com.
Williams is expected to undergo arthroscopic surgery in the next week to 10 days, and there is currently no timetable for his return. Given that surgery is being delayed at least a week, the time Williams will miss because of the injury could be extensive.
Williams was forced to exit Saturday's game against USC because of the injury, and the rest of the Longhorns' offensive line struggled to protect true freshman quarterback Sam Ehlinger from the Trojans' pass rush.
Depending on extent, the injury could also impact Williams' stock in the upcoming NFL draft, where he is viewed by many as the No. 1 offensive tackle, and is expected to be a first-round selection.
