Baylor will start Zach Smith at quarterback in place of Anu Solomon when the Bears try to earn their first win of the season Saturday at Duke, head coach Matt Rhule announced Monday.
Smith, a sophomore, started the final four games of the 2016 season after taking over for an injured Seth Russell, but was demoted to the backup role to begin this season. He threw for 1,526 yards with 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions as a freshman.

Solomon, meanwhile, came over to Baylor as a graduate transfer from Arizona but was inconsistent as a passer in his two starts.
Baylor suffered a pair of shocking losses at home to start the campaign, first falling to Liberty and then to UTSA.
