Cam Newton jokes Georgia 'missed out' on younger brother
Cam Newton's younger brother Caylin made national headlines last weekend by engineering the biggest point-spread upset in college football history when Howard beat UNLV as a 45.5-point underdog.
The younger Newton played his high school football in Atlanta, like Cam, but neither ended up playing in college for the home state Georgia Bulldogs.
The Carolina Panthers quarterback, who won the Heisman Trophy at Auburn, used the massive upset by his brother to tease teammate Thomas Davis about his alma mater missing out on recruiting Caylin.
"I said, 'Man, listen: Georgia needs a winner, and every Newton I know is a winner,'" Newton said earlier this week. "You dig what I'm saying? So they missed out on yet another one."
Georgia missing out on top quarterback recruits from the state has been a trend in recent years, as both Cam and Deshaun Watson ended up elsewhere.
At 5-foot-11, Caylin wasn't near the same level of recruit as either of those players, but showed last weekend he can win games on the college level.
While the Bulldogs missed out on some top quarterback prospects from the state, they've pulled in top talent from elsewhere, including Jacob Eason, the No. 1 quarterback prospect in the country, from the class of 2016.
