Tommy Tuberville is headed for the broadcast booth, as ESPN/ABC announced Wednesday he'll call games across its networks as a color analyst for the 2017 season.

Tuberville, who toyed with the idea of running for governor in Alabama, spent the last four years as the head coach at Cincinnati. He's most known for his 10-year stint at Auburn between 1999 and 2008, which produced five division titles and one SEC championship.

"Tommy has been a staple in college football for many years, having experienced nearly every situation as a head coach," ESPN senior coordinating producer Lee Fitting said in a statement obtained by James Crepea of AL.com. "We want him to bring that experience to our telecast, informing fans on the dynamics of a head coach's thought process, not only in a given moment but leading up to and following that moment."

A broadcast partner for Tuberville is expected to be named soon.

The 62-year-old Tuberville carved out a 159-99 coaching record in tours of duty at Ole Miss, Auburn, Texas Tech, and Cincinnati.
