Is Les Miles gonna get a job or what?

It appeared two months ago that Les Miles would have a list of suitors lining up at his front door, hoping he'd be kind enough to interview them as he sought employment.

You would think that 114 wins over 11-plus seasons at LSU would do that for a coach, right? Wrong.

It's now December, and not only is Miles still unemployed, but he's the one trying to fight through crowds to earn interviews with prospective employers.

Purdue's hiring of Jeff Brohm on Monday crossed another potential landing spot off Miles' list, which wasn't long to begin with, and is getting shorter by the day.

Part of the problem is there weren't many coaching vacancies to begin with, and that programs seeking new leadership are opting for up-and-coming coaches - like Brohm, who comes by way of Western Kentucky - rather than a veteran like Miles.

Unbelievable as it sounds, Oregon and Baylor are the lone Power 5 jobs still on the board. Baylor's still available because nobody in their right mind would step foot in that toxic environment, while Oregon seems focused on finding a younger candidate like South Florida's Willie Taggart or Western Michigan's P.J. Fleck.

There are a bunch of vacancies in Group of 5 conferences, but it's hard to envision Miles, one of the most respected and accomplished men in his profession, leading the same Western Kentucky that Brohm left, or San Jose State, or Florida Atlantic - or even Cincinnati or Houston - out of the tunnel come September.

Upon his dismissal from LSU, Miles was expected to be able to select his next job. That hasn't been the case at all, though, and at 63, the Mad Hatter may need to sit out a season before reintroducing himself to the college football world.

So, is Les Miles gonna get a job anytime soon? Doesn't seem likely.
