South Florida head coach Willie Taggart could be heading to the Pacific Northwest.

Taggart is emerging as a strong candidate for the vacant Oregon head coaching position, a source told Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports. The Ducks fired Mark Helfrich on Tuesday evening after a 4-8 campaign.

The Bulls head coach guided the team to a 10-2 record this season with impressive wins over Syracuse, Navy, and Memphis, while guiding South Florida to a bowl game for the second straight year.

Florida head coach Jim McElwain was also linked to the Oregon job, but he squashed those rumors Wednesday.
