Shocking footage from a junior college football game between Mount San Antonio and Ventura shows a player punching a referee following an on-field argument between the two teams.
Mt. SAC offensive lineman Bernard Schirmer was immediately ejected from the game, and later arrested on suspicion of battery of a game official, and taken to Ventura County jail, Joe Curley of the Ventura County Star.
Trainers from both teams tended to the official, who did not return to the game.
"I shook his hand when he was coming off, and I asked him if he was OK," Ventura head coach Steve Mooshagian told Curley. "He looked like he was a little drowsy."
