Florida State defensive back Derwin James underwent foot surgery to repair a small fracture two weeks ago, a source confirmed to Warchant.com's Gene Williams on Thursday.
The good news for Seminoles fans is the source described the surgery as "minor," with a recovery timetable of four-to-five weeks. James is expected to return to the field for the Seminoles' second week of practice, which begins Aug. 9.
The sophomore tweeted a message to FSU fans Saturday who might be worried the star defender could be out for Florida State's opening game against Ole Miss.
Last season, the five-star prospect recorded 91 tackles and 4.5 sacks and was named to the freshman All-American team.
