Iowa State suspends Tribune after OWI arrest
Iowa State defensive back Nigel Tribune has been suspended indefinitely following a weekend arrest on three different crimes including OWI.
The three-year starter was arrested for OWI, failure to use headlamps when required, and failure to prove security against liability. Police told Tommy Birch of the Des Moines Register that Tribune had bloodshot eyes and smelled of alcohol. He failed field sobriety tests and registered a blood alcohol level over .08, which is the legal limit.
"We are aware of the charges filed against Nigel and we are in the process of gathering more information," Cyclones head coach Matt Campbell said. "Nigel has been suspended indefinitely from the football team under the student-athlete code of conduct policy."
Tribune played in 11 games during the 2015 season, starting eight and registering 37 tackles and two forced fumbles.
Iowa State opens the 2016 schedule Sept. 3 against Northern Iowa.
