Emmanuel Mudiay: Playing in China more of a challenge than college ball
Emmanuel Mudiay is one of the most intriguing players heading to the NBA because of his decision to skip the NCAA and play in China.
The 6-foot-5, 195-pound point guard reflected on his time in China as a professional basketball player while speaking with Evan Daniels of Scout.com.
When asked if he'd have done anything differently, Mudiay remained confident in his decision and compared it to the alternative.
"Honestly it challenged me as a basketball player. I’m not saying I’m better than everybody in college, but I felt like it gave me a better challenge than college would have given me," Mudiay said.
He chose to sign with the Guangdong Southern Tigers for over $1 million, and signed an endorsement deal with Under Armour, instead of going to SMU, where he'd committed.
Mudiay's averaging 18 points, 6.3 rebounds and 5.9 assists over 12 games played in China, where he's been dealing with an ankle injury.
Mudiay mentioned that the Mustangs could have remained in the NCAA tournament had he gone there.
