Villanova dominates Xavier to claim Big East title
The Wildcats made noise by punching their ticket to the NCAA tournament - their 10th consecutive visit.
Villanova defeated Xavier 69-52 to earn its second Big East title and extend its victory march to 15, the longest single-season win streak in school history.
Dylan Ennis put up 16 points and six rebounds to lead the Wildcats in a dominant victory over the Musketeers. Josh Hart flexed his muscles to tally 15 points and seven rebounds, and Darrun Hilliard II added 12 points and five rebounds to ensure his team enters the Big Dance for another year.
Jalen Reynolds and Trevon Bluiett both put up 13 points for Xavier, but the Musketeers, sinking just two-of-15 3-pointers, could not run with Villanova.
The Wildcats have been surrounded by very little buzz after quietly dominating in their path to the Big East finale. However, after finishing the game shooting 50 percent from the field compared to Xavier's 37.3 percent, Villanova gave spectators a preview of what can be expected in the NCAA tournament.
