5-star PG Dylan Mingo commits to North Carolina
Five-star point guard Dylan Mingo announced his commitment to North Carolina on Tuesday, according to Rivals' Joe Tipton.
The 6-foot-5, 185-pound standout picked the Tar Heels over Baylor, Penn State, and Washington among several other offers.
"I chose UNC because it felt like a family environment from the players, fans, to the coaches," Mingo said. "I felt like the UNC history and everyone who played there is huge, knowing their will to win is always at the highest level. I would love to be a part of that."
Mingo is the top-rated prospect in state of New York and the 9th-ranked player on the SC Next 100.
The Long Island Lutheran High School product has missed most of his senior year due to injury. Mingo averaged 19.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 2.3 steals on the Nike EYBL circuit last summer.
Mingo becomes North Carolina's second verbal pledge in the 2026 cycle after power forward Maximo Adams signed with Tar Heels in November 2025.
