Alex Condon opts for junior season at Florida over draft
Alex Condon is returning to Florida for his junior season and will take his name out of NBA draft consideration, he told ESPN's Jonathan Givony.
"It's a really good situation waiting for me there," Condon said. "A great coach with Todd Golden. Teammates I won a national championship with. I have great chemistry with those boys. We have a good transfer class coming in. I expect guys to make a leap. My big man coach, Carlin Hartman, is returning, so I will keep developing my game with him."
The Australian big man averaged 10.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.3 blocks last season, making the All-SEC third team.
Florida went 36-4, winning its last 12 games to claim both the SEC and NCAA titles.
"This was a surreal season," Condon said. "There was so much depth on this team, and we all played unselfishly. A lot of guys stepped up in big moments. We had a great team, and that's the reason we won the championship."
Florida has bolstered its team this offseason by adding guards Xaivian Lee, Boogie Fland, and AJ Brown in the transfer portal.
