Report: Utah, Arizona State admitted into Big 12
The Big 12's presidents and chancellors voted unanimously Friday to accept Utah and Arizona State into the conference, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel.
The two schools are the latest programs to begin the process of exiting the Pac-12, joining the likes of Arizona, USC, Oregon, and Colorado, among others.
USC and UCLA will join the Big Ten in 2024, with Oregon and Washington reportedly expected to follow them. The Big 12 has already poached Colorado, and league executives reportedly approved Arizona's application to join Thursday.
Pac-12 Commissioner George Kliavkoff has been negotiating a new television deal with AppleTV+ for the conference. The media rights deal was presented to the league's stakeholders earlier this week. However, the conference failed to cement the agreement Friday in part due to lower-than-desired financial figures and the Big 10's push to acquire Oregon and Washington, reports Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger.
The Pac-12's current media deal expires after the coming school year.
Oregon State, Cal, Stanford, and Washington State are the only remaining programs that haven't reportedly attempted to leave the conference.
