Star transfer James Akinjo was granted a waiver to play for Baylor in 2021-22, a source told Stadium's Jeff Goodman.
The 6-foot-1 point guard comes to the reigning national champs from Arizona. In his one year with the Wildcats, Akinjo averaged 15.6 points, 5.4 assists, and 1.4 steals per game, garnering first-team All-Pac-12 honors.
Akinjo began his collegiate career at Georgetown. He started 39 of his 40 games before transferring midway through his sophomore season.
The Bears are expected to lose a number of key contributors to their title run, with Jared Butler, Davion Mitchell, and MaCio Teague each exploring turning pro.
