NC State senior guard Devon Daniels will miss the rest of the season after an MRI on Thursday confirmed a torn ACL in his left knee, the school announced.

The Wolfpack's leading scorer suffered the injury in Wednesday's win over Wake Forest. Daniels' knee buckled underneath him while he drove to the basket during the second half.

"I'm gutted and heartbroken for Devon," head coach Kevin Keatts said in a statement. "Devon joined our program shortly after I was named head coach and I quickly appreciated the tenacity and relentlessness he brought into the gym every day.

"Devon built himself into one of the premier players in the ACC, and with that tireless work ethic, I have no doubt that he will attack his rehab and come back even stronger. I hope all NC State fans will join me in praying for Devon and a swift recovery."

Daniels finished with 20 points, eight rebounds, and two assists in 29 minutes Wednesday. He averaged 16.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.7 steals in 12 games for the Wolfpack this season. He ranks eighth in the ACC in scoring, and his 48.7 field-goal percentage is the ninth-best mark in the conference.

NC State is next scheduled to play Sunday against Syracuse. Wednesday's win over the Demon Deacons was the program's first since Dec. 30.
