Georgetown star Mac McClung intends to withdraw from the NBA draft and enter the transfer portal, he told ESPN's Jonathan Givony.
"It was a number of different events that made me feel I had no choice but to transfer from Georgetown," McClung told Givony. "I really wanted to stay, but things throughout my career made me realize that I couldn't.
"I'm looking for a place I can call home. A place I can be a part of a family and help them succeed."
Hoyas head coach Patrick Ewing recently said McClung will be returning to the school for his junior season, but the 6-foot-2 guard's agency quickly shot down that notion.
"The podcast with Andy Katz was not the deciding factor to my decision to transfer," McClung said. "I think it affected my pre-draft process and seemed to confuse a lot of teams."
McClung will be one of the most sought-after transfers. He'll be filing a waiver in hopes of being granted immediate eligibility.
This past season, McClung averaged a team-high 15.7 points as well as 3.1 boards, 2.4 assists, and 1.4 steals per contest. In 2018-19, he earned Big East All-Freshman team honors.
Before McClung embarked on his collegiate career, he gained notoriety for his acrobatic dunks online.
