East Tennessee State is expected to hire Jason Shay as its next head coach, reports CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein.
He will succeed Steve Forbes, who took over Wake Forest's bench boss gig in late April, leaving Shay as the Buccaneers interim head coach.
Shay has been an assistant on Forbes' staff at ETSU since 2015.
After leaving for Wake Forest, Forbes himself endorsed Shay to fill the vacancy.
"I know there’s probably a better term for this, but it ain't broke don't fix it," Forbes said Tuesday, according to WJHL's Jesse Krull. "His fingerprints are all over the program at all levels and all areas and all aspects since we’ve been there."
