Loyola Marymount hires Stan Johnson as HC
Loyola Marymount is hiring Stan Johnson as its next head coach, the school announced Friday.
Johnson will replace Mike Dunlap, who agreed to part ways with the school after posting an 81-108 record in six seasons at the helm.
"Stan has a tremendous vision for the future of LMU men's basketball, and he has the distinct ability to connect with and inspire student-athletes on and off the court," athletic director Craig Pintens said in a statement.
Johnson has spent the last five seasons with Marquette, serving as an associate head coach for the past three campaigns under Steve Wojciechowski. He was most notably involved in the recruitment of first-team AP All-American Markus Howard.
Loyola Marymount was 11-21 overall and 4-12 in the West Coast Conference this past season. The Lions haven't made the NCAA Tournament since the 1989-90 campaign.
