Washington guard Quade Green has been granted a waiver from the NCAA and will be immediately eligible to play for the Huskies, the school announced Friday.

Green played in just nine games for Kentucky last season before transferring to Washington in January.

"We're very excited to have Quade eligible immediately and we'd like to thank the NCAA, the University of Kentucky, and the compliance staffs both here at Washington and at Kentucky," said head coach Mike Hopkins in a statement. "We can't thank them enough for their cooperation and we are very happy for Quade."

Green should immediately step into the starting point guard role and provide an additional boost to a roster that already includes five-star freshmen Isaiah Stewart and Jaden McDaniels.

The 21-year-old arrived in Lexington after a standout high school career that included McDonald's All-American honors. Green began the 2017-18 season in the starting lineup but an injury allowed current Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to take his spot.

Green averaged nine points on 45.1% shooting - including a 38.5% mark from distance - across 43 appearances for the Wildcats.

Washington won the Pac-12 regular-season title last season and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Huskies open their campaign against Baylor on Nov. 8.
