Baylor's Kegler suspended indefinitely, will pursue pro career
Baylor guard Mario Kegler was indefinitely suspended from the men's basketball team in accordance with athletics department policy, the school announced Friday.
Kegler has chosen to pursue a professional career and will forgo his remaining years of college eligibility.
Baylor did not provide a reason for his suspension.
"The strength of our team is our depth," head coach Scott Drew told NCAA.com's Andy Katz. "It hurts whenever you lose somebody, but it’s a blessing to have depth. People said we had eight starters. Now we have seven."
The 22-year-old started 28 games for the Bears last season, finishing third in team scoring and rebounding with 10.5 points and 5.8 boards per game, respectively. He sat out the 2017-18 campaign following his transfer from Mississippi State.
Kegler was the 47th-ranked recruit in the ESPN 100 for 2016.
