LaVar: Sons going to Lithuania 'a good situation because I thought of it'

LaVar Ball wants you to know moving his two youngest sons to Lithuania was all his idea - and a good one.

The Big Baller Brand founder infamously pulled his middle son LiAngelo Ball from UCLA after growing tired of his indefinite suspension. It was later revealed both LiAngelo and younger brother LaMelo - who LaVar had previously pulled out of high school in favor of homeschooling - had signed professional contracts with Prienu Vytautas of the Lithuanian Basketball League.

"I think it's a good situation because I thought of it," the father told The Washington Post's Tim Bontemps. "I think it’s a great situation. I only think of what’s best for my boys, and they understand I never steer them wrong, and I don't think I'm going to start steering them wrong now."

By signing professionally overseas, Ball ensured that LiAngelo and LaMelo can no longer play in the NCAA (the latter had previously verbally committed to joining UCLA). But despite having to pick up and travel halfway across the world to further their basketball careers, Ball believes the reserved natures of his two sons will make the culture shift easier to handle.

"No, it's not a big transition. It's very low, on the fact that we'll play basketball anywhere," he said. "It's a big transition if you go to the clubs all the time, if you're used to fancy whims and cars.

"But if you just want to be in the gym? What the hell's the difference?"
