Report: LiAngelo Ball to receive signature shoe after UCLA withdrawal
LiAngelo Ball may finally be getting his own entry in the Big Baller Brand family.
After his father LaVar confirmed he is pulling the 19-year-old from UCLA, ESPN's Jovan Buha reports - courtesy of ESPN's Nick DePaula - there are now plans in place to give LiAngelo his own signature shoe called the "Gelo 3."
By withdrawing from UCLA, LiAngelo would no longer need to adhere to the NCAA's rules on amateurism, foregoing the grey area of earning revenue and benefits from his own brand while remaining a student-athlete.
The middle Ball sibling had been indefinitely suspended by the school since he and two other teammates were caught shoplifting while on a recent trip to China. He had yet to play a single game for the Bruins before being pulled out of the institution by his father.
LiAngelo's shoe would be the third sneaker of the Ball family's brand after the "Melo Ball 1" and the "ZO2," named after youngest sibling LaMelo Ball and older brother and Los Angeles Lakers guard Lonzo Ball, respectively.
