Dayton's Miller weighs in on NC State rumors
Almost immediately after NC State announced Thursday that Mark Gottfried would be leaving the program after the season, Dayton's Archie Miller became the popular choice to become the next head coach of the Wolfpack.
Miller and his wife both attended NC State, and he served as an assistant coach for the program from 2004-06.
Despite the rumors, Miller insisted Thursday evening that he hadn't been informed about the opening.
"I haven't heard anything from anybody," Miller said to reporters, via James Rider. "I went to NC State. Played there, had a great experience. So many of those people have helped me along the way. As everyone else, you get into real life. And as you get into real life, you move along your own path. That's sort of where I'm at now."
Dayton is in the midst of another successful season, currently tied for the lead in the A-10 conference, and Miller insisted any rumors of the NC State job wouldn't be a distraction for him or the Flyers.
"I don't pay attention to anything, my concern is our players, my concern is our practice habits," he said. "Those things keep you focused. As little as you probably think, there's not a whole lot to think about other than our group."
Dayton hosts St. Bonaventure on Saturday afternoon.
