Kyrie Irving doled out the injury. The refs added the insult.
Monday night was a painful one for Andrew Wiggins, as the Minnesota Timberwolves sophomore was called for a foul in the waning moments of a close contest against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Seconds after the burgeoning star drained a 15-foot shot - pulling his team within four points of the Cavs - Irving drove the lane, swinging the ball across his body and through Wiggins' jaw.
Although the elbow-to-mouth action was initiated by Irving, Wiggins was whistled for his fifth foul.
Irving nailed both free throws, pushing his team's lead to six points, and the Cavs never looked back.
It was certainly an odd call on the former Cavaliers draftee. Cue the classic woe-is-me musings of the late, great Rodney Dangerfield.
