Damian Lillard playing through plantar fasciitis
Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard has been playing through plantar fascia soreness in his left foot, and says he aggravated the injury in Sunday's loss to the Miami Heat.
"It was just in action, it was a little bit sore," Lillard said after the game. "I took off to get in the lane one time and it just got a little tight, a little sore."
Lillard had a terrific outing Sunday, scoring a game-high 32 points on just 18 shots, but he slowed as the game went on and shot just 3-of-8 from the field in the fourth quarter. In the two games prior, both losses, he shot a combined 10-of-35.
Lillard wouldn't chalk those struggles up to his troublesome foot, though.
"Before today it was just a little bit sore," he said. "It wasn't nothing crazy, just a little sore. In the game I think I aggravated it a little bit."
Plantar fasciitis can be a tricky injury, and one that typically only heals with rest. Still, Lillard doesn't expect to miss any time, and plans to suit up for the second night of a back-to-back against the Atlanta Hawks on Monday.
"I'm not really worried about it," he said.
Lillard's backcourt mate, CJ McCollum, also suffered a minor injury Sunday, rolling his left ankle late in the fourth quarter. McCollum expects to play Monday.
The two are one of just three sets of teammates currently averaging more than 20 points per game apiece.
