Report: Wizards planning to waive Martell Webster
The Washington Wizards are planning to waive small forward Martell Webster, reports Yahoo Sports' Shams Charania.
The decision to cut Webster coincides with the team's recent move to add center Ryan Hollins.
Webster - who underwent season-ending hip surgery earlier this month - has one year remaining on his partially guaranteed contract.
The 28-year-old has not played a single game this season, struggling with his fair share of injuries throughout his career.
An earlier report indicated that Webster would have to forfeit more than $3 million in salary as a result of missing the remainder of the season, as the Wizards included a requirement that he play in 180 games over the first three seasons of his four-year, $22-million contract in order for the final year to be fully guaranteed.
The Seattle product has career averages of 8.7 points (38.2 percent from long distance), 3.1 rebounds, and 0.5 assists.
DC it's been real. I just want to say thank you to @TedLeonsis for giving me another chance in this league. To you fans I love you #wiznation
