Flip Saunders: Anyone who doesn't think Andrew Wiggins is ROY is 'dreaming'

Brace Hemmelgarn / USA TODAY Sports

Voter fatigue is a powerful thing.

Even though the phenomenon doesn't technically apply to Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard/star-in-the-making Andrew Wiggins, considering he's yet to actually win any real hardware, he's been the unquestioned Rookie of the Year favorite ever since Jabari Parker tore his ACL back in December. Wiggins leads all rookies in scoring and playing time and has been the recipient of every Western Conference Rookie of the Month award to date.

He's naturally hit a bit of a wall in the season's final weeks, while players who've taken far less of a beating - Nikola Mirotic, Nerlens Noel, et al. - have surged forward to offer up some prospective narrative variety for voters and prognosticators alike.

Let's just say Timberwolves coach Flip Saunders isn't open to alternate perspectives on this issue.

"Anyone that throws anything else out, they’re dreaming," Saunders said, according to Andy Greder of the Pioneer Press. "(Wiggins) is the most dominant rookie. He’s playing in a situation where because we’ve been so undermanned, he is the guy. Like (Monday), when we got the ball, he had three people over there trying to guard him. This has helped him and it will help him even more when we get veteran guys back and surround him with our other guys, too."

In case you missed it, Wiggins did his own bit of talking Monday night.
