Trey Burke questionable with illness Monday for banged-up Jazz
Apparently, Trey Burke has been watching video of his jump shot.
That is, Burke is now sick to his stomach, and may miss the Utah Jazz's game against the Indiana Pacers on Monday as a result. Burke is officially being called questionable due to illness, with rookie Dante Exum set to start in his place if he can't go.
Burke hasn't been particularly effective in his second season out of Michigan, but the injury-ravaged Jazz can ill afford to lose anyone else. The team has already had to dip into the D-League pool to shore up their wing depth, and losing Burke for a night would leave them without a second player capable of running the point behind Exum.
In 34 games, Burke is averaging 12.2 points and 5.1 assists but shooting just 36.6 percent and 30.7 percent from long range. Those averages push his career marks even lower, as he's now shooting 37.5 percent over 104 games with a 32.3 percent 3-point mark. Those are ugly numbers, and they're keeping him from reaching average offensive efficiency marks that should be within reach given his success creating offense for others.
While far less polished, Exum has been slightly more impressive despite poor shooting numbers of his own. The Australian rookie is averaging five points and 1.9 assists in just 18.4 minutes, shooting 39.1 percent overall and 33.7 on 3-pointers.
Most notably for a Jazz team so thin at the two, Exum and Burke have looked like a competent offensive pairing in their 104 minutes together.
