The Miami Heat will be shorthanded in a big way Sunday against the Boston Celtics, as shooting guard Dwyane Wade is unable to play due to a knee contusion, the team announced.
Wade has been in and out of the lineup due to various ailments this season, but this marks Wade's first absence because of knee pain.
In addition to Wade, the Heat will also be without fellow All-Star Chris Bosh, who is out with a calf injury.
Wade is enjoying a late-career resurgence this season, averaging 22.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 32.7 minutes per game. Combo guard Mario Chalmers will fill in for Wade in the starting lineup.
