MLB legend Barry Larkin takes shot at Mavericks after son's trade, apologizes hours later
Former Cincinnati Reds shortstop and baseball Hall of Famer Barry Larkin may have been a little too candid in an interview with the New York Post, taking a shot at his son's former NBA team.
“Dallas doesn’t do a good job of developing players,’’ Larkin said. “They’re in win-now mode. [Coach] Rick Carlisle doesn’t know how to develop young players, and Shane was a rookie. It always was a struggle for him to figure out what was going on.’’
Barry's son Shane was recently traded to the New York Knicks in a deal which saw Tyson Chandler return to the Dallas Mavericks.
Larkin felt the backlash in a hurry, and was quick to respond to the criticism on Twitter, noting that he did have some positive comments about the organization which weren't reflected in the article.
#MFFL I am disappointed in how every positive comment I made about the mavs organization, the big D, coach C and MC was spun negatively.

The younger Larkin averaged just 10.2 minutes of court time in 48 games for the Mavericks in his rookie season.
