Report: Byron Scott interviewed with the Lakers on Tuesday

It seems as if the bookmakers were on to something.

Earlier in the week, odds showed Byron Scott as the "favorite" to land the Los Angeles Lakers coaching gig (see a few posts below) despite his somewhat lackluster resume and a lack of buzz around his name.

Well, Scott interviewed with the Lakers on Tuesday, according to a report from USA Today Sports that surfaced on Wednesday evening.

From the report:

According to a person familiar with the interview said Kupchak has also talked to Byron Scott, a player from the Showtime Lakers of the 1980s, and former coach with the Nets where he led them to two NBA Finals, the New Orleans Hornets and Cleveland Cavaliers. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the interview wasn't made public.

Scott joins Mike Dunleavy (see two posts below) as names confirmed as having interviewed, while Derek Fisher and a host of others have been rumored as candidates.

Hopefully for Scott, he impressed general manager Mitch Kupchak on the "how would you use Kobe Bryant" question that Kupchak said was oh-so-important (see below).
