Nets prospect Bojan Bogdanovic likely to remain overseas for 2014-15

If the Brooklyn Nets were expecting additional help from overseas this offseason, it appears they'll have to look elsewhere than 2011 Euro-stash pick Bojan Bogdanovic.

According to EuroHoops.net, Bogdanovic is close to signing a new deal with Fenerbache Ulker, one that would span two or three years.

That doesn't preclude a buyout allowing him to head to the NBA at some point, but NBA teams are restricted in how much they can contribute towards such a buyout. Said buyout was the reason Bogdanovic did not join the Nets in 2013, as they signed him to an NBA deal but the buyout negotiation couldn't be resolved.

The 25-year-old Croatian forward had signed a three-year deal starting at $2.5 million, one the Nets would be hard pressed to fit into their current payroll given the limitations facing such a high-tax team.

The Nets acquired the rights to Bogdanovic after the 2011 draft, when the Miami Heat selected him and dealt him to Minnesota for Norris Cole, who then dealt him to New Jersey for cash and a second-round pick that ended up being Lorenzo Brown.

He's now considered one of the best prospects outside of the NBA, having averaged 12.3 points on 46.8 percent shooting in 24 Euroleague games this season, and the team reportedly thought highly enough of him that they balked at including him in trade talks early in the season.
