Report: Shaquille O'Neal under police investigation following alleged incident at TNT
Shaquille O'Neal is reportedly the subject of a police investigation following an alleged incident involving a co-worker at Turner Studios in Atlanta.
O'Neal is being investigated for a possible assault dating back to March 19, WSB-TV reports.
The former NBA center has not yet been charged.
"[The co-worker] alleged O’Neal tackled him to the ground causing injury to his back while they were at work at Turner Studios,” Sgt. Greg Lyon of the Atlanta Police Department told WSB-TV's Ryan Young.
O'Neal's co-worker "went to the Atlanta Police Department and said Shaq tackle-punched him, knocking him down and falling on top of him", WSB-TV added.
The police were not called on the night of the incident, but the investigation is reportedly ongoing.
“This was nothing more than horseplay," O'Neal's attorney, Dennis Roach, said in a statement. "No one intended for anyone to get injured.”
The co-worker's attorney dismissed the notion of "horseplay" and responded by revealing his client was recovering from surgery.
“However, [my client] does state emphatically that the permanent injuries he received were not the result of participation in any form of 'horseplay," he added.
