Knicks coach Woodson considers removing Bargnani from starting lineup

The New York Knicks have lost three in a row, and head coach Mike Woodson is considering making a change.

Before tip-off against the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday, Woodson confirmed he was toying with the idea of removing forward Andrea Bargnani from the starting lineup, according to ESPN New York.

“That’s a possibility,” Woodson said. "[Car]Melo [Anthony] hasn’t had an opportunity to play a lot of four this year based on, you know, Bargnani, and having Kenyon [Martin] and Amar’e [Stoudemire]. You’ll probably see more four now that those guys are out. Bargnani could possibly come off and back up Tyson [Chandler] at the center spot.”

Bargnani played 36 minutes on Friday, scoring 13 points and adding six rebounds, but the Knicks lost to the Clippers 109-95.

After the game, Woodson again addressed a potential juggling of the lineup.

“Either I got to change the lineup or we just got to get our starting five clicking,” Woodson said.

Forward Pablo Prigioni is set to return on Monday against the Brooklyn Nets, which could make the decision easier.

Woodson is well aware of Bargnani's shooting woes.

“I don’t think he’s getting a lot of the good looks that he had early on and he’s missed some good shots that he’s taken too as well,” Woodson said before the game.

But the coach wasn't about to single out the forward.

“I wish everybody could step up,” Woodson said. “There’s been struggles all over the place.”
