HBO Real Sports to do segment on Brian Shaw's family tragedy
Nuggets head coach Brian Shaw tragically lost his mother, father, and sister in a car accident 20 years ago. The only survivor was his 11-month-old niece, and he was awarded custody of her following the crash.
Tragedy then struck again when only one month after the accident, Shaw's best friend Reggie Lewis passed away from cardiac arrest.
The sequence of events made for an undoubtedly tough time in Shaw's life, and the coach will now have the chance to open up about the experience on "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel."
According to SLAM, the segment will focus on the perseverance Shaw demonstrated following the tragedy that led to where is he today.
