Utah Jazz forward Jaren Jackson Jr. will undergo surgery on his left knee that will likely sideline him for the remainder of the season, sources told NBA insider Chris Haynes.

The Memphis Grizzlies traded Jackson to the Jazz on Feb. 3, but Utah only found out about the knee issue afterward, Haynes reports.

Jackson is dealing with a localized PVNS growth, according to Haynes. Pigmented villonodular synovitis is a noncancerous tumor that develops in the synovial tissue, the soft connective tissue of joints, according to Boston Children's Hospital. It most commonly affects the knee and hip.

Jackson, 26, scored 23 points in 22 minutes during Wednesday's win over the Sacramento Kings, his third appearance with the Jazz. Utah is 13th in the Western Conference with an 18-37 record.

The two-time All-Star and former Defensive Player of the Year played seven-plus seasons for the Grizzlies, who drafted him fourth overall in 2018. Jackson has career averages of 18.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game.
