Report: Herro to make season debut vs. Mavs
Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro intends to return for Monday's matchup against the Dallas Mavericks at home, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
Herro has missed the first 17 games of the season recovering from ankle surgery in September.
The 25-year-old led the Heat in scoring and assists last season with 23.9 and 5.5 per game, respectively.
Despite the one-time All-Star's unavailability through the first fifth of the campaign, Erik Spoelstra's squad has held its own in the Eastern Conference. Sunday's 127-117 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers was Miami's seventh win in their last nine games, elevating them to third in the conference with a 11-6 record on the year.
Part of their success has been thanks to a stingy Heat defense. Miami is surrendering 111.2 points per 100 possessions, the fourth-best mark in the NBA. They also boast the league's quickest pace of play at 106.4 possessions per 48 minutes, which offsets an offensive efficiency (116.6) that ranks closer to league average (12th).
