Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is considered week-to-week after spraining his left ankle during practice Sunday, a team spokesperson told Damichael Cole of The Commercial Appeal.

The Grizzlies kick off their regular season Oct. 22 against the New Orleans Pelicans at home. Memphis has five preseason games before opening night.

Injuries have been a major concern for the Grizzlies ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. Jaren Jackson Jr. remains sidelined with a turf toe injury. Brandon Clarke and Zach Edey have also been on the shelf for weeks due to knee and ankle injuries, respectively.

Morant averaged 23.2 points, 7.3 assists, and 4.1 rebounds in 50 appearances last season. The two-time All-Star sustained a hip injury in the playoffs and missed Game 4 of the Oklahoma City Thunder's first-round sweep of the Grizzlies.

Morant and Jackson are the top playmakers on a Memphis team that traded Desmond Bane - its third-leading scorer in 2024-25 - to the Orlando Magic during the offseason.
