Report: Fizdale in 3rd round of interviews for Suns' head coaching job
Phoenix Suns associate head coach David Fizdale is expected to be a part of a third round of interviews for the team's head coaching job, sources told ESPN's Marc J. Spears.
Fizdale has been with Phoenix since 2023 and has the support of some key Suns players, Spears added.
Phoenix fired Mike Budenholzer after a single season due to a disappointing 2024-25 campaign. The team finished with a 36-46 record and missed the postseason despite having the most expensive roster in the NBA.
Fizdale previously served as head coach for the Memphis Grizzlies and New York Knicks, posting a 71-134 record over four campaigns. He guided the Grizzlies to the playoffs in 2016-17 with a 43-39 record.
The 50-year-old was reportedly one of eight candidates on the Suns' radar for the vacancy.
Phoenix is expected to retool this offseason, building around Devin Booker. The Suns will also reportedly look to trade Kevin Durant and have discussions about the future of Bradley Beal.
